As of April 15th, We Energies will begin shutting off utilities for those who are behind on their monthly payments. Green & Kapsos Law Offices, L.L.C. can use the bankruptcy code to prevent Utility Shut-Off or get utilities reconnected. On the federal level, our offices can use Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 bankruptcy to eliminate or restructure past due utility debts.
Future Impact on Energy Service
Filing a Chapter 7 or 13 will not prevent you from receiving future utility service. WE Energies can ask for a deposit in order to reestablish service, but that deposit cannot exceed the total of two months of your highest bills.
